At the OB/GYN Women’s Health Center, Dr. Mousa provides infertility treatment based on the latest advances. Infertility is generally defined as a period of one year of unprotected intercourse without conception. We recommend that both husband and wife attend the first fertility office appointment. This will allow us to obtain a full history from each of you and explain the course of diagnosis and treatment.
In women older than 35 we would start investigation of their fertility potential earlier than one year. The prevalence of infertility varies, but occurs in approximately 10 to 20% of couples. In up to 70% of infertility cases there is a treatable female factor. In the other 30% there is a significant male fertility factor. Many couples may both have contributing factors. Dr. Mousa actively works with both the husband and wife to achieve a pregnancy.
The three most important diagnostic tests include a semen analysis (sperm count), tubal dye x-ray and a test of whether normal ovulation is occurring. Additional testing is added based on either partner's history.
We have extensive experience in infertility treatment for women through OB/GYN Women‘s Health Center, including aggressive ovulation induction, tubal microsurgery (including tubal reanastomosis), surgery for endometriosis and hysteroscopic surgical removal of uterine malformations including polyps, fibroids and congenital abnormalities as well as Intra-Uterine Insemination ( IUI )
Working closely with urologists and clinics who have expertise in the evaluation of male infertility, we provide the means to expedite all forms treatment. This includes assisted reproductive technology such as in vitro fertilization.
Insurance coverages vary widely for infertility treatment. Some may cover diagnosis, but not treatment. Others cover none of the evaluation or treatment and some rare companies cover all aspects of infertility. We encourage you to check your coverage prior to your visit to prevent unexpected costs. We are always happy to discuss approximate costs for each of the evaluations and treatments that are planned.
